Theodore
H. Saylor, B.Sc., R.Ph., D.C.
Dr. Saylor is a 1984 cum laude graduate and former
instructor at Life University. Previous to that, his undergraduate
studies earned him a bachelor of science degree in Pharmacy from
the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.
His post doctorate education is in the specialized
field of Chiropractic Orthopedics, the study of the acute and chronic care of skeletal joints, muscles,
and nerve entrapments. His practice routinely treats neck, shoulder, wrist, mid and lower back, hip, arm and leg, and foot problems.
Accurate diagnosis with successful non-invasive treatment approaches is what we're all about!
He is currently trained in multidisciplinary
protocols for the treatment of scoliosis.
He is one of a handful of doctors in the country trained and certified with the DRX9000tm True Spinal Decompression System, a non-invasive and non-surgical treatment for degenerative, bulging, and herniated spinal discs.
As a previous practicing pharmacist for 20 years, he, also, currently pursues continuing education in the areas of
the pharmaceutical sciences including biochemistry, nutrition, and functional
medicine. "Having this type of background provides a unique perspective how the average person today can become healthy without the use of pharmaceuticals and all of their inherent toxicity. It is becoming increasingly more evident that we need to embrace a proven commonsense approach to being healthy. It works!"
As a specialist in chiropractic evaluation that includes
orthopedic, neurological, and biomechanical skills and the diagnostic
tools of functional laboratory assessment, x-ray, and other diagnostic
techniques, Dr. Saylor focalizes on finding the underlying cause of health problems.
Dr. Saylor maintains a working referral relationship
with the Athens area healthcare community. If your problem does
not fall within the specialty of Chiropractic Care and we feel we
cannot help, we will quickly refer you to other appropriate health
care providers. Our office regularly refers patients to medical
physicians (internists, cardiologists, orthopedists, neurologists,
and others), physical therapists, dentists and orthodontists, and
other chiropractic physicians.
Dr. Saylor is frequently asked to testify as an
expert witness on the treatment of vehicular, industrial, and other
high deltaV force injuries. He is a former examiner for the National Chiropractic
Board, the national organization that examines competency of doctors
seeking licensure nationwide.
He has received specialized training in conjunction
with the Georgia State Board of Workers' Compensation and the Georgia
Chiropractic Association specifically to be able to serve companies
in lowering their overall workers' compensation costs. He is certified
as an industrial consultant for the prevention and treatment of
work related injuries and is an advisor to businesses large and small to help them cost contain their health care expenditures
Dr. Saylor is listed as a preferred provider on
the panel of doctors of many businesses and industries and is listed
as an "in-network" doctor of chiropractic with the Georgia
State Merit Preferred Provider Organization and other managed care
organizations.
Dr. Saylor is a member of the:
American Academy of Spine Physicians
American Chiropractic Association
Georgia Chiropractic Association
Athens Chiropractic Association
Family:
"My father was a pharmacist and graduated in
1923 from the same college of pharmacy as myself. . He ran a successful
pharmacy in a time when pharmacists collected, preserved, and compounded
prescriptions of natural herbs and other substances from all over
the world that could help heal the human body. Part of his job was
to preserve and stabilize these products and have them "taste good".
Along with "common sense health care", he passed on to
me an appreciation for natural health care, herbology, homeopathy,
and a reverence for Life and its natural laws."
Public speaking:
Dr. Saylor has spoken to both civic and professional
groups. His subject matter invites everyone in our society to gain
control of their own healthcare by becoming proactive in a process
oriented towards an affordable, common sense, more naturally oriented
health care system.
In addition to defining what true health care is
(vs. our current "disease care" paradigm), he lays out
a simple plan of action concerning a vast array of health related
subjects that empowers his audience to experience a new level of
health.
While examining our societies current chemically
influenced medical and agricultural delivery systems, his perspective
paints a clear picture that our current approach to health care
is in desperate need of redirection.
Considering "alternatives" including the
chiropractic profession and other complimentary care, Dr. Saylor
invites the audience to incorporate outcome based complimentary
treatment approaches into their overall health care program. He
weaves together a unique and multifaceted perspective of the "web
of health care" that he has gleaned from his love of, what
he calls, "natures biologically oriented health care system".
The slogan "Chiropractic first, drugs second, and surgical
intervention last" becomes a practical and clear vision in
a time when the current media's level of understanding screams at
us that certain symptoms are actually "normal" and if
we take whatever product they are selling, that we'll be healthy.
Dr. Saylor warns about the dangers inherent in this message and
offers a refreshing perspective on the pharmaceutical based health
care model.
As a pharmacist, he has studied the use of the medicinal
properties of plants and herbs and has blended that with his study
of Life's systems - biology, zoology, biochemistry, pharmacology,
chiropractic, homeopathy, nutrition, functional medicine, organic
gardening, beekeeping, and other naturally oriented interests over
the past 40 years.
Dr. Saylor presents a clear and very different perspective
of how this country's educational and media systems are perpetuating
a myopic orientation towards this "chemically controlled disease
care system" to our children. He addresses the skyrocketing
cost of health care as a direct result of the individual not having
the knowledge and tools to be able to create a healthy body.
He provides evidence that the majority of health
care dollars are spent on conditions that are directly related to
an individuals dietary choices - cardiovascular disease, diabetes,
cancer, and many arthritises, obesity, etc. "It will be refreshing,
he says, to see the results of the current increasing awareness
of people that are shunning the "chemically controlled food
delivery system" by eating more naturally, organically oriented
foods."
Another tragic example of a large amount of health
care dollars being squandered is the result of the "chemically
controlled health care delivery system" itself. Over 100,000
people per year in the United States are hospitalized for adverse
affects from the use of Non-Steroidal AntiInflammatory Drugs (NSAID'S).
Worse than that, approximately 14,000 of them die!
"We must elect leaders who are knowledgeable
in healthcare instead of special interest economics! We must revamp
the antiquated pharmaceutically dominated medical education system
for one that encompasses ALL safe and effective outcome based approaches
for enhancing the ability of the physician to assist the individual
to get and stay healthy."
"What is desperately needed is instruction
and direction in our schools towards true health care where the
individual is empowered to understand the body's natural laws and
its ability to heal and maintain its homeostasis. We need to teach
our children the basics of good health - naturally oriented nutrition,
the importance of positive attitude and the tools to achieve it,
and the habit of good exercise. We need to educate them about what
happens to our bodies with injuries. They need to learn that the
brain and its extension, the spinal cord, control and coordinate
the majority of the "messages" that allow our body to
function properly and that interference with that nerve function
can cause disease. Finally, we need to give our children an appreciation
for the importance of rest and provide them with the tools to empower
them to easily rest their mental and physical capacities.
"Health is an inalienable right. It needs to
be understood, protected, supported, and enhanced. We can no longer
go down the road of ignorance and expect the status quo to "take
care of us". There is just too much conflict of interest in
that system that does not serve the people well."
His message is powerful and clear-
for optimum health, learn how the bodies natural systems work
then, learn to work with those natural processes.
